AXI: Embrace the Hype | AXI Adds New Clients, Strategic Partner

By George Mehok | February 11, 2026

We are all bombarded with news about AI—its promise, its risks, and its global implications.

Is it hype, or is it real?

AI is not another passing technology trend. It’s here and it’s real. Based on my experience as a technology leader of publicly held, private, and early-stage ventures—and on deploying AI-enabled automation solutions across healthcare and manufacturing over the past few years—AI is already delivering business outcomes that were not achievable with traditional technologies, and doing so faster and more cost-effectively than ever.

We’ve seen this cycle before with the emergence of the PC and Internet in the early 90’s. The organizations that succeeded were not the ones chasing hype, but those that applied the technology incrementally to real business problems. AI requires the same discipline, but with far greater urgency. Adoption and investment are accelerating faster than any prior technology wave, while the pace of innovation introduces new risks around obsolescence and poor decision-making.

Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt remarked recently, “AI is not a bubble … if anything, it’s underhyped.”

Here’s what you need to remember:

  • AI adoption and investment are accelerating faster than prior technology waves such as the Internet and mobility
  • AI is evolving so quickly that large, long-term bets can become obsolete in months
  • Starting with one or two focused use cases deployed within ~90 days reduces risk and accelerates learning
  • ROI extends beyond labor savings to include error reduction, compliance risk, revenue leakage, and resilience
  • The cost of inaction includes employee disengagement, talent loss, and erosion of institutional knowledge
  • AI adoption is now a leadership decision, not simply an IT initiative

Final Thoughts

The greatest risk today is not experimenting with AI. The greatest risk is waiting too long—or making large, unfocused bets without a clear strategy. Leaders who treat AI as a strategic capability will gain a durable advantage. Those who hesitate risk falling behind faster than in any previous technology transition.

The promise of AI is real. Embrace the hype.
